Meet Your Instructors
Louise Wight
Hi, my name is Louise Wight. I started Pilates in 2003 after a history of lower back pain. I immediately started to feel better and loved going to class. After a few months my back pain disappeared and I looked more toned. I felt so inspired by this form of exercise that I wanted to teach others and this led me to taking my instructor training with STOTT PILATES in August 2006.
I began teaching in Scotland and moved to Fernie in June 2008 where I have been running regular classes at Fernie Physiotherapy and Fernie Aquatic Centre. I am qualified to teach Essential & Intermediate Matwork and have also taken a course to deal with Injuries and Special Populations.
Shane Korpan
Hi my name is Shane Korpan, I am a Certified STOTT PILATES Instructor in Essential and Intermediate levels for Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrels and Injuries and Special Populations course work. I try to lead an active lifestyle of skiing both alpine and nordic in the winters, and the summers are spent on two wheels, either road, mountain, or downhill biking. I also enjoy traveling around the world to different kite surfing destinations in search of wind and waves. When I am not traveling, I spend my time in south country, BC exploring new mountain peaks and endless single track terrain. I was introduced to Pilates a couple of years ago by a former dance colleague from Toronto after experiencing numerous sport related injuries. As it turns out, I found Pilates not only an effective method of rehabilitation, but an excellent form of exercise to help maintain a body that can keep me participating in all the sports I love to do. Pilates is a perfect complement to cardiovascular exercise to help increase flexibility, build core strength and stability, improve posture and help restore the natural curves of the spine. I enjoy teaching Pilates classes in Fernie, as I believe it is an excellent form of exercise for all ages, fitness levels and goals.
